Magnar Karlsen (b. 1962) is a Norwegian improvising musician and camera-based artist, residing in eastern Norway. Known for his innovative in-camera techniques, Karlsen explores modern Norwegian art through various layers of abstraction. His music features a distinctive combination of monophonic analog synthesizer and percussion, often presented in a solo performance format. Karlsen's artistic output spans ambient music with a reference to Norwegian folktronica / nu-jazz / experimental and black-and-white fine art photography, creating a unique intersection of sound and visual art.
