When The Mist Fades (2026) is the latest work by Magnar Karlsen (b.1962), a Norwegian improvising musician and fine art photographer. MK's music explores an atmospheric Norwegian sound, bridging electronic and acoustic improvisations on synthesizer and snare drum. Emerging from both the traditional and explorative, his solo performance is a deeply personal take on ambient jazz, electronic and experimental music. In addition to his music, MK is known for his fine art photography, using innovative in-camera techniques to explore various layers of abstraction. His artistic output forms a unique intersection of sound and visual art reflecting a consistent sensibility across both mediums. |
MK has released 8 albums and published 76 photographic works in recent years.
He has received national support from FFUK, collaborated with the likes of jacob Young, Karl Seglem,
Torgeir Vassvik, Gavin William Wright and exhibited (solo) at the National Forest Museum.
